2.3-16 Checking for Errors

Now begins the part where errors are spotted and corrected.

Because the car was new from the factory, the only need for any body work arose because of vandalism. So the risk of errors such as bubbles, gouges and holes in the body work is minimal. Instead, there is the chance that the base is wavy and the 199 paint will highlight the wave. So there has to be a careful eye for a totally straight base.

In the first photo, remember the dimple in the port fender top? In the second photo, the dimple in the hood is history. The rear lines in the third photo look perfect. The second coat of primer on the hood showed no imperfections.

There is also the check for panel alignment and overall fit which must be excellent at all costs. The first two photos reveal perfect panel alignment.

A wet sanding of the primer and then respraying it will build up the base for a totally smooth, mirror finish. 199 goes on, maybe this Wednesday.
