Yes. You pretty clearly have a problem in the vent/recovery system. Dropping the cap isn't necessarily good or bad it all depends on how it hit, etc. But it shouldn't be wet. Check and clean the purge valve, pull the charcoal canister, let it all dry out (I would probably replace the gas cap as well as the charcoal canister, it's probably saturated, that and the purge valve are in the DIY stickies). After you do all that disconnect the battery and step on the brake for a half a minute to reboot the car, then when you start it back up you'll have to go through the resets (windows, ABS, radio) but that will also clear the codes and if everything is okay in the vent/evap system you'll be good to go.
