I don't about M-B batteries, but generally my experience has been 4 to 6 years although some fail within the first year. Temperature changes can affect the life span but some just plain fail within the first year. On the other hand I just replaced the original Motorcraft battery in my '99 F150 because the green "eye" turned red. It still holds a charge and I'm keeping it as a spare.
