There have been a lot of good points made here but I'm glad I have leather. As far as I know, when my pre-owned car was new, leather was the only option available. Also, I have never owned a car with leather seats so it's new for me. I plan to treat them with the Leatherique products as soon as it is warm enough to "bake it in" and don't mind the bit of extra work.

There has been something unique to German-made vinyl for a long time. I had two '70s era Porsches, neither of which had leather. With the single exception that one of the driver's seat seams gave way (it was repairable), the interiors both held up very well with next to no upkeep.
