You make a good point. In fact, I'd forgotten about the load issue as the majority of the family has left in the time since this problem arose. Now the car runs mostly light but the problem's still evident.
I favour the rear for a solution, especially as these high-speed twitches somehow feel as if they're 'driven' from the back. In an odd way, I can almost identify the source of the instability as being 'seat of the pants' rather that 'up front.' It's all beginning to sound a bit unscientific!
I've requested an inspection by a UK expert next week as I shall be over there. I don't know yet whether he can find time for me. In any event, I shall report progress as it's made.
