there should be a schematic circuit diagram on the inside of the top cover on the radio; the "line in" should be easily identifiable to anyone who knows how to read it.
You may run into an impedance issue the I-pod. Having a good electronics/auto radio shop check it out might not be a bad idea. The DIN plug on the radio has, in addition to the "line-in", connections for remote power to the deck, etc.
