All Canadian cars must have DRLs now.
Pages 104 - 106 refer. The DRls are always on and provide low beams.
In the 'Auto" mode, the following lights switch on and off automatically depending on the brightness of the ambient light:Tail and parking lights, License plate lights and Side marker lights.
Having reread the manual, noting the headlights could turn off if the sensor is subjected to bright oncoming traffic, I will manually switch the headlights from 'Auto" to 'On' for night driving and rely on the 'Auto' setting only for daylight use in tunnels or other short or unexpected conditions of darkness.
