Raymond - this picture illustrates the main question well. I agree that the custom bolts will create a good fit, with the 14mm ball seat and the 12mm diameter threaded shaft.

What I am wondering is - with the custom lug bolts, will that wider ball seat direct more force upon the 12mm shaft than it can take, as opposed to the wider 14mm shaft found on the W211 bolts?

That is the weak point, I think. When they made the 14mm ball seat, they also made a wider diameter shaft. So when you take a custom bolt with a wide, 14mm ball seat and mate it to a 12mm diameter shaft, will that shaft be able to support the forces exerted upon it at the point where the curved ball seat meets the threaded shaft?
