You're welcome. The OBD system is really a good solution to emissions restrictions. The computer monitors the function of all of the components of the emission control system. If there is a malfunction in any component, the "check engine" or Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) lights. It would be nice if there was a readout that let you know why the MIL lit up but I suppose most people wouldn't know what to do about it anyway. The system really should be serviced by a trained and qualified techinician. Most times, it is a pretty simple problem.

My cousin has a Toyota and she called me one day when her MIL came on. I hooked up my scannner and pulled the code. It turned out that the code that set the MIL related to the evaporative emissions control system. The fix was tightening the gas cap and resetting the OBD!

In your case, you probably just have a bad oxygen sensor. They fail pretty regularly. I doubt that there is anything more wrong with it than that. The law of Occam's razor applies here. The most likely answer is probably the simplest.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out.
