Nice details there Hat'

I would add a couple of other twists from when I did mine. Now mine is a 92 2.3, auto/ Calif. From what I gathered with some other How To's, there might be better access with say early models.

1. The Steering Wheel with Airbag - Some How To's said you HAD to remove it perios and some said you didn't. I was all for not removing the air bag after reading the manual unless I had to. The Dash will come out with the Steering Wheel/ Air Bag still attached, not easy mind you but very doable with no tweaking damage. Apparently it may not be all that tough to remove it, but you have an option with a bit of care.

Speedo - Disconnecting the Speedo was the toughest part of the job for me. There is just way too much stuff in the way to reach up from below on mine. I couldn't even get close. One How To was the same, remove the left vent, then you can detach the duct and it will drop enough to allow you enter threw the left vent over the duct.

Still tough to get in there as there is maybe a 1/2" give in the cable to allow the cluster to move out enough for room and to see what you're doing. If you go to the Trans there is clip, remove the clip and this gets you about another inch or so , enough to once you feed to slack threw the the Fire Wall you can now see between the dash and cluster. Never pull too hard on the speedo cable itself.
