From what I can tell, the problem with the antenna is usually either the gears or the circuit board, rarely the motor. There are posts that will tell you how to fix the gears. I opened the antenna on our 1994 S320 the other day and it was clearly the circuit board that was the problem. I found this guy on ebay selling new Hirschmann circuit boards for $10 plus $7 shipping. He has two different boards that will fix a lot of Mercedes antennas. Sure beats $350 for a new antenna. I'm not going to do it because I sold the S320 today (down to a S500 and a SL600).
