I think his feelings were hurt when he wasn't treated like a king. I can see how nouveau-riche Chinese consumers might be under the impression that just because they bought a super-premium car (and into the Benz dream) that the are somehow MB's first priority. As seasoned (cynical) consumers in the US know that first priority is usually the bottom line. To MB he is just another customer.
That said, these cars really do give the extra measure of protection and luxury. I feel safe in my car, certainly safer than any other car I have driven. I just realize that MB really doesn't care about me that much as an individual, and I am OK with that.
