Well how about this option?
the active safety systems like brake assist, abs etc slowed the car sufficiently. And the passive safety systems like the seat belt pre-tensioners and active head rests activated reducing the risk of whiplash, so there was no need for the airbags to deploy because he more than likely wouldn't have come into contact with them at all. An airbag is not a measure of a crash.

HAH. I read it again and HE rear ended the truck. Why is he proud of causing an accident?
