| Read any aftermarket manufacturer's HP gain promises with a huge grain of salt. Even for "real" performance parts, this applies.
For example, a full exhaust system (head back) for an American V8 may give you 50HP, and so may the new Holley carburetor. But you won't get 100 total. You'll get fifty from the exhaust if you have the carb. You'll get 50 from the carb if you have the exhaust. Alone, you'll be lucky to get fifteen from either. And this is assuming very expensive head work and a new camshaft.
