I have an older gentleman friend who has been stricken recently with Cancer. He is undergoing treatments, and the prognosis for success is favorable at this time; however, the regiment is taxing on his physical and mental health. One of his last joys at this time in his life is to go for a drive (or ride, if he is not able to drive on a particular day) in his '78 450SL. Aye, here is the rub. He tells me that his climate control servo is kaput (housing leaking). When he called me for advice, I hated to tell him his options were limited and expensive (at least more than he needs to be burdened with at this time). He was disappointed and realizes he does not need to spend that kinda change with what he is going thru. I informed him I'd research for him and report back. Now, I know replacements run the gamut from $600US for a digital repacement system to $5-600 rebuilt to $1400 etc...

Now's where I extend a request from any benevolent 107 owner of this vintage with a huge heart... Should someone have a servicable unit lying around that they would part with to help an older 107 owner, I'd gladly install for my friend. I will explore other options, but thought I'd throw it up here for you good-hearted folk to search your parts boxes... Please don't mis-understand... He is not looking for a freebie here (nor am I).
