| Yeah you have to hook up both. The big fat black cable plugs into a hole on the back of the new head unit, and the blue remote turn on wire connects to the antenna spade connector. On my car, I didn't hook up the blue remote at first, and while the antenna picked up reception, it wouldn't go up and down.
