Hello ML430-OFFROAD,

I think it depends on the LEDs you use.
There are in general 2 types of LEDs in view of voltage. Of course there are some other "special" ones, too.

If LEDs are around for 2V, then 3 of them plus you need to add 300 ohm to make it 20mA current.
If LEDs are 3.6V, add 60 ohm resistor.

I'm going to try this soon, but the resistor will limit the current through the LEDs and it won't blow.
