ASR is traction control. Came as an option form '91 on I think. I don't think it was available with manual transmissions. If you have it there will be a yellow ASR light in the speedo part of the cluster. I never saw a 16V with ASR but I've only seen manual 16Vs. Can't see why those brakes won't work.
