| Purchasing a vehicle at a distance without inspection can be extremely risky.
In the case of a Merc, simple to have the seller bring the vehicle, regardless of age, to the closest authorized MB dealers service department.
The service department will issue a formal inspection report which covers most areas of concern.
Compression test recommended at an additional cost.
Approximate cost around $400.00 which is worth every penny.
I've just had this done on a 1971 280SL that I'm purchasing !!!
