Yes Mark, the car was in excellent condition cosmetically, suspension, steering was in top condition no doubt about that but mechanically it was not what it should've been, I ended up spending $4000 on top of the purchase price of $12000 not including the $2500 for shipping and taxes to bring to the level and condition it should've been, replaced all the lifters and the abnormal noise never went away and then I ended up taking the head off to find that it had blown head gasket right where the oil comes into the head resulting in low oil pressure in the head and hence lifter noise.
It ended up costing me close to $19000 and my actual plan of building a Diesel AMG never materialized so got really frustrated and put it on autotrader for $12900, the first guy that offered $11500 took it, a lucky bastard got himself a brand new over engineered benz for the right price!
From all this frustration of months and months I have learnt my lesson and know for sure that I will never buy a car by trusting someone's word or without test driving it again.
I asked all relevant questions before deciding to buy it like:
Does the car over heat, Answer NO
Is the transmission jerky, Anser NO
Is the engine sound the way a diesel sounds, Anwer YES
And then was told that I was getting a hell of a car, my friends please tell me if this was true why would I sell it so soon. I rest my case, nothing personal Mark but I never approached you afterwords because the deal was done and I'm a man of words and trust that others will be the same so I gave you benefit of the doubt that you don't know your diesels, I personally think my initial offer of $9500 was a valid offer and therefore you will always owe me $2500 that I paid more than the market value of the car.
