You will have to disable the ASR also as you don't have it programmed into the rest of the system. That should be a simple unplug if I am not mistaken [I have not tried that type of disconnect of the ASR].

As for the struts, I think you are going to need more than just the strut. Call Luke at Tire Rack and ask him about converting a 500E rear end to Bilstein without SLS. You might have to get springs also. I can't remember at this hour.

And yes, it is a strong rear end. I am on a group of 500E only guys and some tend to do pretty much everything to their cars and I have never heard of a rear end going out.
