The vast majority of the time, MP3 files play just fine in our COMAND. Sometimes, specific files will consistently not play properly (i.e. just hear clicks & pops), and yet the very same disc and files play just fine in our CD changer.
Not sure if this is helpful, but the suspect files are usually MP3s of old radio shows, so the files are likely low bitrate mono.
Both the COMAND unit and CD changer have been retrofitted into our vehicle, so I can't take them in and expect warranty service.
Any advice regarding whether it might be an MP3 issue, and not a hardware issue?
(FWIW, we have a 2004 S211. The COMAND came out of a 2006 CLS, and the changer came out of a 2005/6 SLK. The changer has MP3 and WMA compatibility, while the COMAND has MP3 compatibility only...) | Could this perhaps be a minimum bit-rate issue? |
