I agree. It was a very strong motor in a pretty light car [ but only 300 pounds lighter than the 3900# 420SEL].
While AMG Germany rated their HP pretty conservative, AMG NA liked to promote the loudest dyno numbers they had and the two were not that much different.
I think the M117 AMG Torque numbers are where it shines as much as raw HP. Jonathan's 126 with M117 AMG motor is a rocket. Caused me to blow a motor mount keeping up one Sunday morning this past January.
