You have read comments, and in your judgement they are not racial. I think the people they were aimed at might have a different view.
To justify things by stating
"what could be taboo in one place could be totally normal in another" is to show a complete lack of cultural understanding. Where ever possible I would take someone else's culture in to consideration before firing off potentially offensive comments.
No doubt you'll have a pop at me because of this post, but when it comes down to facts my original post was not pouring oil on a fire, but the complete opposite - it was an attempt to pour oil on troubled waters.
