| 300SD (1982) radio/heater console access My car has a problem with the radio cutting out at random times. Whenever this happens, it's accompanied by the antenna retracting automatically (same as when it's turned off or ignition is switched off); time display disappears also. Whacking the side of the console with my fist restores radio (at random, of course). My guess is that I have either a bad ground or an intermittent power supply.
Sometimes the climate control operates the same way i.e. the fan suddenly kicks in after a long time off. I suspect similar power-or-ground gremlins.
My question: what is the most graceful way to get at the radio/heater area, to examine the wiring there? There are no obvious screws or fasteners visible, like in older Benzes I've had ('62 220S, '70 280S).
I have no workshop manual like I did for my older cars; I understand they are no only available on CD now - bummer.
Thx for your help!
|
