I've been using those cars for 30 years , and have never owned a car newer than 72 (280SEL 4.5)
Sure, you need to pay attention to them(like women).
They use fuel, however the overall cost of a W108 spread over 10 years is just plainly cheap.
Do your own work, get parts at wholesale, do not abuse it (i.e. let unqualified people drive it) ,
lube, tune, fix everything when needed.

Cheaper than any new car.
Well,,,, it doesn't nave ALL the modern accessories...
And just plain cool to have one....
