I'm relatively new to the sport...about 11 or 12 years I suspect by now. I've seen some brutal crashes, but I struggle to remember one I've seen as it happened that was as bad as Kubica's. Not Schumacher's leg breaker, not the big-time off's through Eau Rouge, nothing looked as ugly as this wreck with his head flopping about.
Champ Car / IRL have had some doozy's. Zanardi's comes to mind, among others, but holy cow.
Dave Despain just reported that the injuries Kubica sustained resulting from that wreck - basically going airborne off-track at over 150MPH, hitting the inside wall nearly straight on, flipping while hurtling across the track, and ending up sideways against the wall - amount to this: mild concussion, sprained ankle. Absolutely amazing.
