Removing CD Changer

After posting a reply to another thread, I got to thinking (always a dangerous thing) that maybe I should get a set of RoadsterBags for weekend trips with the wife.

eBay Motors: ORIGINAL ROADSTERBAG LUGGAGE FOR MERCEDES SLK (R170) (item 270107423347 end time Apr-12-07 18:41:50 PDT)

The problem is, I don't think they will both fit if I have the 6 Disc CD changer installed. But that got me to thinking about removing the CD changer. Since I got the Bipes MP3 adapter I never play CDs anyway. The question I have is do I have to do anything special with the Fiber Optic connection at the CD changer or can I simply disconnect it? I understand that the D2B Fiber Optic system is a loop so I'm not sure if disconnection of the CD changer will render my Phone inoperative because the signal is not routed correctly.
