This topic is getting very interesting!... This is what I think... if the design and engineering of this engine allows 13K before oil change (with recommended oil) and the manual says so... then in my opinion this was tested true in labs. They don't just say 13K so that they could kill your engine!!! and this has nothing to do with how much you paid for your car... this is pure physics... the way the engine was designed...

Like "sosh" stated above, ... it doesn't hurt anything doing it early either, ... except your wallet....

You can change anything prematurely if you want, ... tires every 5K miles, etc ... it's up to you and your wallet...
