| For what it's worth, here's a mention from the NY Times re: 1988 prices. There was a similar price-increase story on the 1987 model year, but with no prices cited.

LEAD: Mercedes-Benz of North America said it plans to raise prices on its 1988 models between 2.6 percent and 3.4 percent. The lowest-priced model, the 190-E sedan with five-speed manual transmission, will sell for $29,190, and the highest-priced car, the 560-SEC coupe with automatic transmission, will sell for $76,380 on the West Coast and $75,850 on the East Coast. |
