Good God some of you Benz fanboys are blind to reality.

Saying stupid things like maybe 73 was the target number DCX set ...give me a break.

The Maybach is being slaughtered by Rolls-Royce and Bentley simply because it is not as desirable as them ...the Bentley is also far far better value for money ...and yes, even rich people care about that.

When one looks at the performance figures of the Bentley Flying Spur, it is very hard to justify why the MM57S is so much more expensive.

The Maybach brand amounts to not much more than an elaborate PR and marketing exercise ...the whole concept was dreamed up in a cynical and jealous attempt by Daimler Chrysler's execs to out do their great rivals BMW and VAG .....well quite frankly, they have failed miserably.

One of the biggest problems I have with the Maybach, as any true Benz fan probably does, is the fact that the Mercedes-Benz brand was not considered "good enough" to compete against Rolls-Royce - suddenly the world's oldest and most famous car maker was being upstaged by a brand name they bought in the 1960's .......even if Wilhelm Maybach played a major part in the development of Mercedes-Benz, the Maybach brand itself was once a rival of Mercedes-Benz. As a Benz fan, I can't stand the disingenuous spin that Maybach was the "sister" brand of Mercedes -- nothing is further from the truth. The Paris Hiltons of this world might be easy to convince ...but to me, the Maybach is an empty, soulless, and passionless car .....the Phantom leaves it for dead.
