I use them a few times a week. As to 'S' mode being faster, I don't see how. There can be a momentary delay when changing up or down (but often it's immediate) but that doesn't make the shift slower than 'S' mode. How do you know when the gearbox decided to shift when it changes in 'S' mode? Chances are the same delays apply. I find 'S' mode better for making the fastest progress, but manual mode can be more involving. So they complement each other. 'C' mode changes up much earlier and is less frantic. It's a great gearbox IMO because it offers the three alternatives.
