Yes, they do contain oil inside. They work similar to the normal shock absorbers, there are two chambers and a small hole (valve) between them. When mount gets compressed, oil is slowly flowing from one chamber to another. If you see anything leaking out of mount, it is dead already - no matter if it is flat yet or not.
