| Suspension noise
Iwan,
Are you able to create the noise by pushing downward on the rear bumper? Or by rocking the body side to side? You might be able to isolate the source of the noise.
This could be shocks or worn or broken shock mounts. Also, the bushings in the cross-suspension arms (I call them Panhard rods but I know they have an official name) create this noise when going over things like speed bumps. When you are bottoming-out your springs how fast and on what kind of surface are you driving.
Oh, and what year is your G. The information on your registery does not mention year or body style of your vehicle.
There is also a spring diagnostic proceedure on the maintenance manual CD, showing measurements between reference points of the frame and axle, for the front and rear. This compares the heigt of each wheel well to the others, and suggests an exact standard or specification for suspension position in mm's. I am certain other on this board have other methods of determining shot-spring diagnosis. Do you have Harald Pietschmann's manual on CD, or similar workshop manual?
Good luck.
