I've had good success with windshield repairs on other vehicles and it's nice not to have to mess with the factory seal if it can be avoided.

I think it's worth a try as it's relatively inexpensive and some places even offer lifetime warranties on the repair.

In any case, I wouldn't worry about it. I know someone who has replaced the windsheild on his 2002 G500 and I couldn't even tell it was a replacement. His dealer had no problem getting the proper Sigla glass used at the factory.
