| "Lame Duck" Nasdaq hits 4.5 year high. Russell 2000 hits historic high. Dow may have been fairly flat but other indexes are showing nice growth.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended their gains on Friday, pushing the Nasdaq index above 2,300 for the first time since May 2001, with rival Internet search companies Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. leading the way.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 73.40 points, or 0.67 percent, at 10,955.55. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 11.07 points, or 0.87 percent, at 1,284.55. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 26.66 points, or 1.17 percent, at 2,303.53. |
