RE: Headlight question!

To do it right, you need the MB Bi-Xenon headlights and they run about $1,100-1,300 for the pair. To install them you have to remove the bumper cover and to some that's not easy, to others it's easy. You then have to go to the dealer and have the set the Xenon Present option, some dealers will do it, many won't. If your dealer won't, remove the lights, sell them on ebay.

Then there's the poor man's choices -

1. You can buy a chinese made look-alike light like you mention above, it doesn't comes with any bulbs so I don't understand how someone can say it's halogen or HID, it's just a housing and it's about $400. If you want to remain at $400 just transfer the old bulbs to the new like fixture and walla, you have the look of factory bi-xenons for much less. As the bi-xenons, you do have to remove the bumper cover. Also you don't know the long term effects of this light, will it yellow or get hazy after a year or two? Will it fit perfect? Will it fall apart after a year or two?

2. You can buy a retrofit kit that has genuine Xenon light bulbs with H7 halogen adapaters. Basically you remove the bulbs, plug in the H7 adapter into wiring harness plug that went on the old bulb and then stick the new bulb in the hole where the bulb goes, find a place for the ballast/controller box and glue/screw/velcro it in place and you are almost done. Some kits are like the OEM lights and require you to go to the dealer for the Xenon Present option and some don't because they mimic the wattage of the halogen bulbs.

3. You can combine options 1 and 2 but I don't believe anyone's done it so it may not fit or it may have a meltdown, who knows. If you try it, let us know how it works.
