: Hello - as somewhat of a follow up to my earlier post I have been speaking with several people about the cars. One person in particular is very keen on the idea of getting the vin number and studying it. I also think this is a good idea. Does anyone know how to decode a vin number - I know what some of it means, but for example are the last 4 numbers the production numbers or how does all of this work. <p>The last 6 numbers are the production or individual serial number. In the 460 series, the first 3 numbers are the series (460) and the next 3 numbers indicate the body style. I thought I knew what the next 2 numbers indicated, but am no longer sure. I believe there's an engine indicator and whether it's left or right hand drive, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can assist on this. DUTCH<br><p>
