It is indeed a prototype, and so far from what I have read there is absolutely no intention of making it into a production car. That's not to say it may not happen, however.

Still, comparing the car to the SLR is a bit like comparing apples and oranges; I look at the Exelero more in league with, say, a Bentley Continental GT than an SLR, despite the price. It's just too heavy.
