RE: New Online Tech Links Thread

this isnt my own info, obviously......it is from the stereo tech thread by NovaScotia.....heres the other part thats good.

Here are some things I found out about my '82 300td factory stereo setup while installing my new clarion cd/mp3 deck.

black = Antenna controle
Red = + positive (switched on/off with key)
brown = - negative

Left & right master speaker outputs

Green = +R
Black = -R
Red = +L
Black = -L

the speakers all are 4 ohmns and that fader deal is crazy! It runs the speakers in parrallel meaning that when you run all four speakers the stereo sees a load of 2 ohmns on each channel. It ramps up to 4 ohmns as you fade it to the front OR rear! After a bit of consideration I decided to bypass the fader after all because the deck rated for 4 ohmns a channel would not likely have handled the 2 ohmn load for a very long period of time. There was no need to run new speaker wires as the rears loop back up to the stereo from the fader before making the trip back to the roof of the rear cabbin. I didn't even have to cut them, just unplugged them and souldered to the existing jacks.

I was unable to find any positive+12v that was not switched off by the key to run my presets and clock.

Does anyone know where and easy location for un-switched +12v from the battery might be?

Also I was unable to locate any wire that had anything to do with the dash lights to dim the display.

End info.
