If there is an abbreviation you don't understand just ask. Hell I have used google for some of them. EGv107 refers to the sticky at the top of the main 107 forum page. A wealth of DIY (Do It Yourself) threads. It will help if you complete you profile with location and vehicle model.
There are two other moderators. I am the junior one. The other two deserve all the credit for organizing the forum. I really just limit myself to the for sale wanted forum rules.

    Hi Rowdie,
I've a small favor to ask. I've been looking at a 1983 380SEC with very low mileage (60,000 m) in excellent condition and wonder if you could check out the numbers for me
    Vin WDB 126 043 2A 082675
    Eng 116 963 2203 6200

SEC's bring big money here and most of them are high mileage (no winter storage)

My old 126 is a later model but over 200,000 miles now and really needs paint and a timing chain job which will cost more than the car is worth.

Hope you can tell me it's original delivery detail

    Cheers
    Graeme (Aussiemerc)

Hi Rowdie, I hate to bother you with questions, as I know you are very busy moderating the Forum. I would post it, but usually get a lot of flak from a few of the other members.
It's about temp sending units. I know there is one on the front of the engine, right above the thermostat, but is there another one on my 500SL? I think it is called a timer sensor, or something like that. If so, Do you know where it is located? Thank You, Jack

    Barry,
The master rectangular head ignition key should unlock everything. There is also a valet key, oval head that should unlock all but the trunk and glove box. You ordered a key from Mercedes for your VIN and it will only operate the ignition?
Edit: April 4 I just checked an '81 280SL parts car. It requires two keys. Could be the ignition has been changed in this one because the keys are totally different designs.

I see you have a 1984 280SL, I too have a gray market model and have a problem with the keys. The serial number gets me an ignition key but the trunk. both doors and glove box locks do not work. Did the Euro models require two keys?
