My ML430 has the .06.00 so I`m going to call my dealer and tell them they can wait for the letter but if it goes out before then, they are gonna be responsible for towing cost and any thing elese it may cause.
I'm no fan of dealers, but in this case there's really no cause to jump all over your dealer. They're taking it from all sides on this already and you'll just come off looking poorly.

After all, the whole idea is to proceed in an orderly fashion, obviously not all dealers can handle all of the cars in their area at once.

Moreover, as the defective HB's degrade there is a noticeable vibration whenever the engine is running. If you're not experiencing any symptoms you're probably fine and, in fact, there may be nothing wrong with your HB even though it has that number. As I understand it, it's not even the case that all of the HBs with either of those part numbers are bad, they are just replacing all of both those series as a precaution because they've seen too many failures in those two numbers.

On the other hand, if you ARE experiencing vibration (or you can see that the rubber has deteriorated, since you found the number that's almost as simple) then you don't have to wait for the letter, you get to go to the head of the line. If you have either of those issues, then call the dealer and let them know and they'll get you in quickly.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
