Now, let's see. My car is only 35 days old as it just arrived from Germany on 12/31. How is it possible I don't have the latest and greatest fuel pump?
Lovin,

My '04 SL500 didn't have the latest ABC suspension pump. Before I took delivery of my car, the part had already been replaced by the factory with an updated version after a defect was discovered that caused a ticking/clicking kinda noise (and maybe other problems as well). Sure enough, my SL developed the noise and the dealer fixed it with the updated part which, of course, had to be shipped from Germany and took about four days or so to get here. I think there is still a problem with my ABC because the left front drops about an inch or so after the vehicle sits for a few days.

IMO, Mercs are (probably just like a lot of other new vehicles) "over-engineered". Too many bells and whistles just means more chance of something to go wrong. I've had a few other thing go wrong, also.

Maybe these kinds of problems could be prevented if Merc would implement better Quality Control at the factory level.

Don't get me wrong, I *love* my SL. I just wish there weren't any bugs to work out.
