| RE: Eyeing a 87 E320 Hello,
Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no such thing as an 87 E320. You either got the year or the badge wrong. Please check again. In 1987, There were two gas engines available for the 124, a 2.6- and a 3.0-liter, both referred to as M103. They had a single camshaft and 1wo valves per cylinder. The E320 guise only came in the early 1990s.
In any case, with a car this age sitting in a barn for a long time, I'd check under the skin first: Before paint and upholstry, I'd look for any rust first that may bave permeated through the car (even though that's probably unlikely).
The 124s were/are great cars, probably the best Mercedes ever made in terms of striking a perfect (if there is such a thing) balance between good old Mercedes quality and technology that still seems modern by today's standards. I personally would pick a 124 over anything else any day. Good luck [:)]
