I don't buy it. WWII was a war of battle, During the time Iraq was a war of battle, all the press waved the flag - they do in every war. The problem is, it became a war of occupation. IN a war of that type, whatever goes boom gets covered, whether its Algeria, Vietnam, Gaza or Iraq. In addition, the people's money is at stake, and the press is going to report on how it is being spent. I bet this was as true for the British during their imperialist period as it is for us now during ours. Goes with the territory.
