The latch system is available on many seats (brands).

Make sure you get that, 02+ MLs (maybe earlier models too, I don't know) are ready for it, it's easy and really secure!
TCP: when was the last time you had to buy a child seat?

Over here, nearlt all stores have only one model that uses the ISOFIX latches. And I can know: an ISOFIX babyseat was an absolute requirement for me, and I did not find one shop where they had more than one ISOFIX model in their lineup.

Even with the limited choice, I have nothing but good things to say about my seat [:)]

cheers,
Bram
A little over a year ago, we converted to the Husky.

I am not sure about the government mandates on child safety. Here, it also depends on the State you live in. Texas requires child seats (boosters) until 8 years of age I think, while others are more lenient.

The Husky came with the LATCH system, but still supports anchoring using the tether and the rear seat belt if your car is not so equipped with the LATCH system. Out 02 ML has the anchors, like yours, but our previous SUV did not. I am unsure as to when it became (if it even is) mandated that car manufacturers had to implement LATCH in their vehicles.

Many believe that the US has the more progrssive approach to many things and are in fact mistaken. That might be such example. Another is on emissions, when level 3 and 4 are more stringent than current LEV standards in the US. Yet another, 16x9 TVs and broadcasting has benn in place in Europe for a while, it's really been here for a few years for a few metropolitan areas. On the other hand, we have digital HD TV signal, while you still have to agree on a standard (is D2MAC dead yet?).

We love the Britax seats we've had, and feel really good about our child's safety in them.

I'd have to say that this conditionned our last purchase. We were happy with seat number two, and picked seat number three by Brand, Britax, and had a choice of 2 seats with the LATCH system. The Husky, and the other one, which might have been a booster seat, I'm not sure, and we concluded that we would buy the Husky and later upgrade to a four Britax (booster) rather than going halfway and purchase only one seat!
