Ok this question is for ByeByeAmericanPie. What's the beef with armor all? I'm not being sarcastic here by the way. I'm asking out of ignorance. I've never heard anything negative about it. You mention it's silicone base. Is that the root of eveil here? Please inform.

Most vinyl "protectants", including ArmorAll contain silicone oils, petroleum distillates or other agents which damage vinyl and which vinyl manufacturers recommend AGAINST!
Virtually all vinyl manufacturers agree that no type of oil should be used on vinyl. Silicone oil vinyl treatments should not be used for several reasons;
1) Silicone oil formulations typically attack the vinyl topcoat,
2) Silicone oil formulations usually contain no effective UV screening ingredients,
3) Silicone oil formulations are build-up products which accelerate heat damage,
4) Silicone oil formulations are greasy and oily, attract dust, and soil more quickly. READ THE LABEL! Product directions suggesting more than one coat for better cosmetic enhancement are build-up products and are recommended against by vinyl manufacturers.
Personally I would only use products similar to 303 Aerospace Protectant as this contains no silicones, has UV stabilizers added and has specific compounds to strengthen the plactic topcoat of the PVC vinyl.
I hope this helps!
