| Close assist failure may not be the pump My passenger door close assist failed last week, I tried the fuse trick and it now works fine. I then called the guy who rebuilds the pumps (I found him somewhere on this board) and tried to order a new pump. He told me that if the fuse trick works it's not the pump. It's the closing mechanism in the door getting too stiff which tells the computer in the pump that it is taking too much force to close the door and it needs to shut down to protect the pump from an overload. I was told to take the door apart and clean and lubricate the closing mechanism.
I haven't had a chance yet but it sure beats a new pump. |
