Timing chain replacement/timing issue 1990 420SEL

I had a problem where I found a broken chain guide. I removed all the bits and replaced the guide, while I was there I replaced the timing chain and tensioner trying to make sure the engine timing stayed the same as I threaded in the new chain while removing the old one. Everything appeared OK untill I turned the engine over and it appears that the chain on the right side cam, looking from the front, is loose on the sprocket and is trying to jump teeth.
Is there a quick way to check the mechanical timing to make sure I am not out of time? Marks on the cam shafts etc...
Thanks in advance.[?]
